Re-
Whilst every reputable breeder seeks loving homes for their precious bundles, they do also acknowledge that sometimes things happen in life that mean that families have to part with their furry family members.
These circumstances are always hard for the families, but are also difficult for the dog concerned.
In these hard times, it is recommended that you speak first of all to the breeder. Most will try and work with you in order to find a suitable alternative home which bests suits the dog. In order to do this there are a number of steps which have to be taken.
First of all a run down on the dogs daily routine, likes/dislikes, environment, health
etc. has to be collected together with an honest and frank account of the dogs behaviour
and attitude. Consideration is always given as to whether a dog has been in an environment
with small children and is used to them. Home visits and assessments are absolutely
paramount if a dog requires to be re-
Dogs in these circumstances often come with baggage and having gone through a full assessment, any prospective new owner would be made fully aware of any issues which the dog had, and would only be homed when we were satisfied that it was a correct choice of home for both the new owner and the dog.
As you will appreciate, the aforementioned takes a little time in arranging and most families who find themselves in this situation appreciate the lengths we go to in order find the best and most suited choice of new home.
We will never home a dog without going through this process.
Whilst trying to identify a new home, it is best, if possible that the dog stays in it’s current environment as this is the one which they are accustomed to. In the event that matters have to be expedited on the families side, for whatever reason, it is felt reasonable and appropriate that the dog is put into a local kennel in order that the process can be followed. This gives an opportunity to go through all the necessary procedures and avoid ‘knee jerk’ reactions and ‘’quick’ homes which aren’t necessarily the best choice, perhaps just convenient at the time.
Where we can, we will offer to kennel a dog if necessary, however this is not always possible.
We take our responsibilities as breeders very seriously and are committed to the puppies which be breed. We also expect that owners who chose to take the puppies on, show responsibility and commitment to the dog in the event that they find themselves in this situation.
