Text Box: Bevel: Text Box: At Nehando, we take our responsibilities as breeders, very seriously.  Purchasing a Ridgeback is a very big commitment and as such, prospective puppy owners need to know exactly what they are taking on when they buy a puppy.

The puppies are very boisterous and require a lot of love and attention.  They also require a lot of time being spent with them in order to set out what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour.

Having read about their background and their characteristics, you will now have a better idea as to what to expect.  I always encourage people to ask lots of questions, and to visit my dogs in order that you get an idea of what to expect when these small, cute puppies grow into large and vocal dogs.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks grow very quickly, so you should not exercise them too much, two ten minute lead walks should be sufficient until 6 months, slowly increasing.  I find normally by the age of a year, as much as you want, do not allow too much free running until this age, increasing gradually.  Do not allow your puppy to jump up and down too often, this is okay whilst they are young, however they do become rather large and the habit is then hard to break.
As well as puppies there are often dogs which are available for homing via the rescue societies.  If you feel that you could offer a home to an older dog, please contact us for further details.
